I don't get commission from projects, Abdullah tells SPDP delegates, observers and guest

Kuching: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he had never received commission from any of the government projects.

He said what he was doing was for the benefit of the people and country as a whole and not for himself for being the Prime Minister.

"I have nothing for myself from any project.  I have no percentage for any government project," said the Prime Minister at the opening ceremony of the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party's 2nd Triennial Delegates Assembly in Santubong yesterday.

"This is not the minister of 10 percent ... and this is not even a minister of a quarter per cent," he added in just, to applause from the floor.

Abdullah said he got enough from the salary and allowance he earned as Prime Minister and was indeed happy with what he earned.

He said he would be a much happier man to see other people better off than him, and would not be jealous of other people's achivement.

"I even stay in other people's house ... the government's house (to the laughter of every body on the floor)"."

"I have my own house but it is not that big ... maybe some of you have bigger houses than mine, " he said.

The Prime Minister also called on every Barisan Nasional (BN) component party to continue working together for the propress of the people and the nation.

"Let us not just think of ourselves, but think of others as well.  In everything we do, there must be some sacrifice"

"Towards the nation, every work that we do must be to benefit the people and the country as whole," he said.
