urges people to give Dr. Rundi another Chance

BINTULU:People
in Kemena have been urged to give their incumbent assemblyman Dr Stephen
Rundi Utom another chance in the coming state election.
-
Bintulu
Member of Parliament Dato' Seri Tiong Kin g Sing said they must not believe
rumour mongers who claimed that Dr. Rundi had not performed his duties
well since the election in 2001.
-
In 2001
Dr. Rundi (BN/PBB) contested against David Kimay (DAP), John Brian Anthony
Jeremy Guang (IND) and Edward Galau Sigi (IND), Dr. Rundi polled some 6,830
votes, Kimay (998 votes),Guang (716) and Galau (88).

Tiong question Dr. Chua over insufficient medical staffs and equipment.

Tiong
said the shortage of specialists had compelled many patients' families
to send their loved ones to seek treatment in Kuching, Sibu or Miri General
Hospital instead of local one, where according to them, lacking of medical
specialists and equipments.

He also
questioned the rationale of the Health Ministry that, for instant, upon
five newly posted medical officers to Bintulu Hospital, six resident doctors
would be transferred to other divisions or states in the country.

RM 1 Million to study HFMD at Rajang River

BINTULU:
The Ministry of Health will conduct a RM 1 Million study on Hand, Foot
and Mouth Disease (HFMD) at Rajang River here as soon as possible.

Health
Minister Dato' Dr. CHua Soi Lek said the decision to study the disease
was because it had caused the deaths of children in the State.

"We are
very concernment about HFMD and even have brought the matter twice in the
Cabinet. The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahamad Badawi had
directed both the Ministry of Health Department to intensify the efforts
on the problem, " he said.

RM 70 million to build 150 units of staff quarters...Dr. Chua

BINTULU:
The Ministry of Health has agreed to build for the Bintulu Hospital staff
another 150 units of quarters at an estimated cost of RM 70 million under
the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP).
-
This was
the assurance given by the Minister Datuk Dr. Chua Soi Lek when answering
to a request made Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing JP as well as Dr. Mohamed
Hisham Abu Samah, the director of Bintulu Hospital during a briefing held
at the hospital's conference room yesterday.
-
Currently,
there are only 82 quarters for its 400 staff, and this, according to Dr.
Mohamed is far from enough whereas the living standard in Bintulu is high,
with a single-storey terrace house renting out at RM 600 per month.

Funds prove Government Concern over urgent need to up-grade Medical Services
in Sarawak, Dr. CHua.

BINTULU:
The Federal Government has allocated over RM 600 million to upgrade facilities
in 269 clinics and 21 hospitals all over the Sarawak under the 9th Malaysia
Plan (9MP). Minister of Health, Datuk Chua Soi Lek, said that the
allocation was proof of the government's concern for the people,
especially those in the rural areas to enable them to enjoy better health
service provided by clinics in their areas.

"About
70 percent of the people have received various health services from 21
hospitals and 269 clinics in Sarawak. With the introduction of alternative
health, service, by air and mobile clinics, the health service here has
increased to 90 percent of overall coverage," he said at the Batu Niah
Clinic yesterday.

Tiong fuming over the delayed project of SMK Sebauh

BINTULU
: Member of Parliament for P216 Bintulu Dato Seri Tiong King Sing urged
the Education Ministry to expediate the construction of new Sekolah Menegah
Sebauh in the outskirt of Bintulu as the project had stalled since year
2000.
-
During
his debate at Parliament session yesterday( Monday), Tiong hoped
officers at Education Ministry should be emphatic over the hardship the
students undergoing whilst studying at the existing buildings which are
prone to flooding whenever there was a heavy downpour.

: National Petroleum Berhad or PETRONAS employed a total of 18,689 staff
stationed in various parts of the county and among whom 1,653 or 8.8 per
cent are based in Bintulu.

The
figure was disclosed by Deputy Minister in Prime Minister's Department
Datuk Abdul Rahman Suliman during his reply to question posed by Member
of Parliament for P216 Bintulu Dato Seri Tiong King Sing during parliamentary
sitting yesterday.

BINUTLU
: The Government has always making concerted efforts to improve the delivery
system of the government services through various channels aimed
at increasing integration and inter relationship among the general public
or applicants.
Minister
in Prime Minister "s Department Dato Seri Mohdmed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz
this included the setting up of 'Portal General Service System or ‘mygovernment’
where the general public can log in a total of 884 websites where they
can browse all the relevant government departments and agencies, be they
of the State or local governments.

01/04/2006:Tiong question the quality and standard of Bintulu-Miri coastal
highways.

BINTULU:
The Ministry of Works have implement the same methods and technologies
used in the of R-3 and R-5 rated road construction project for the
construction of the Bintulu-Miri coastal highway project which involved
the area along Tanjong- Kidurong- Kuala Suai-Kuala Niah-Kuala sibuti and
Bakam in Sarawak.
The
Deputy of Works Minister, Dato Mohamad Zin Mohamad said that the construction
of Bintulu-Miri coastal highway which involved the cost of RM581 Million
which was completed in November last year is R-3 rated project with the
distance of 170 kilometer and still under the repair supervision period
for two years which will be over in November 2007.
