| BINTULU: The electorate have been
reminded not to be fooled by the opposition into believing that they could
reduce the price of fuel once they get the mandate to form the next government.
Barisan Nasional incumbent Dato Seri Tiong King Sing of Bintulu said the people must know the reality that the hike of fuel price was a global phenomenon affecting every country in the world. He urged the people to trust the BN government which had a proven track record in serving the people all these years. Tiong remarked that an opposition party had made a lot of noise about land issue previously but could not bring any results later on when elected. “But after its candidate won the election,
he kept silent on the land issue during the sitting of the State Assembly
Council,” noted Tiong.
Tiong also refuted allegations that he had become proud because he thought he could win this election easily. Some people claimed he had become unapproachable recently when they wanted to see him. Tiong explained that the new rulings and regulations imposed by the Election Commission had restricted candidates from doing what could be done previously during the campaigning period. Candidates are forbidden to treat or being feted to meal by people as this could be constituted as corrupt practice. Touching on the poor infrastructure such
as poor road conditions, no electricity and water supplies in the three
villages, Tiong said the issues would be brought up to the attention of
Bintulu Development Authority in due course.
