MARUDI: Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) is confident of not only winning but win with bigger majority of all its seats in the coming parliamentary election if its members and the four State BN component parties work together.

Saying this was the party’s president Dato Sri William Mawan when officiating at a BN solidarity dinner organised by the Baram SPDP Division at the civic centre here Saturday. He said what was needed to ensure total victory was for every body to go to the ground and not to wait for the prime minister to announce the election date.

He said SPDP was a strong BN party, and this was proven when its candidate, Nelson Balang, won the Ba Kelalan state seat in the last election. Its other assemblymen also won handsomely in their respective seats.

Mawan also said that the party was strong as proven by the election of all its four parliamentarians in the last election – Datuk Jacob Sagan in the Baram, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing in Bintulu, Jelaing Mersat in Saratok, and Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe in Mas Gading.

He also talked on the importance of unity, given the many ethnic groups found in the State, who must be able to live in harmony with each other to ensure continued progress and development for the State.

Sagan, Assistant Minister of Water Supply Sylvester Entri, and Telang Usan assemblyman Lihan Jok also spoke at the function.

SPDP deputy president Datuk Peter Nyarok who is also Assistant Minister of Agriculture (Farmers organisation and Cooperative), Tasik Biru assemblyman and senior vice president Peter Nansian, Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang, political secretaries to the Chief Ministers Robert Laing Anyie, Paul Igai and Sim Han Seng, and Baram District Officer Joseph Belayong were among those present.
