05/06/2008: Tiong continues his Gawai's goodwill visit to Jepak & Tatau
 

 


SHARING FESTIVE JOY: Tiong and Talip with the leaders of Rumah Lampoh community.

BINTULU: Bintulu MP Dato Seri Tiong King Sing continued to set out to Kidurong and Jepak to visit the longhouse folks on Tuesday, visiting residents of four longhouses there.

The four were Rumah Awal Ngadang, Rumah Robert Rundan, Rumah Sylvestor Sallang and Rumah Lampoh.

Apart from that, Tiong, who is also the chairman of the Back Benchers' Club, also called on the family of Rayong Bayak. Rayong is the chariman of SPDP Jepak Branch .

Since the festive celebration of Gawai Dayak began last week, Tiong has been on the move, visiting residents of longhouses in Niah, Suai and Upper Kemena River.

In his visit to Kidurong and Jepak, Tiong thanked the residents for inviting him to the festive celebration with them.
He also thanked them for their undivided support to the Barisan Nasional Government in the March General Election.

The MP also called on the community to pay attention to the education of their young ones, saying that they needed to bring the younger generations up to have better attitudes so as to enjoy a fruitful life with the rest of the Malaysians.

To the youths, he said they should work hard and never dream of striking it rich overnight.
"Stay away from crimes and never resort to doing things illegally."

He urged them to earn an honest living that their families would be proud of them and expect promotions for that. "Feel proud with your achievements."

On fund allocations for rural development, Tiong said there were 700 villages and longhouses in Bintulu, and each community must be patient in the receival because fund was limited.

However, the MP assured the government took great pain to care for them and fund allocations would be fair to all.

In the visit, Tiong handed over a fund of RM15,000 to Rumah Sylvestor Sallang for the maintenance of their longhouse.

In meeting the people, the residents praised Tiong for his contribution.

They said they had watched through live telecast on television to see how the MP had fought for the people's benefits.
