  • Police probing case of threatening letter to Bintulu MP

    •  The Cursing letter and hell money found inside the envelope
    BINTULU: State Commissioner of Police, Datuk Mohamad Salleh, says the police are investigating  a case involving a threatening letter addressed to Bintulu Member of Parliament, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing on Monday.

    He said the case was being investigated under  section 507 of the Penal Code. 

    Mohamad  told reporters this when asked to comment on the alleged letter sent by a woman to his service centre at ParkCity Commercial Square Centre on Monday.

    Inside the envelope were two photostated copies of Chinese newspaper cutting and hell money. The words “513 people” were written on the back of the cutting.

    Police team went to centre

    Mohamad said a police team led by Bintulu police chief, Superintendent, Haji Sulaiman Abdul Razak, went to the service centre upon receiving a call regarding the letter, which was dated September 11, 2008.

    Meanwhile, on the coming “Hari Raya Balik Kampung” tradition, the State Police Commissioner advised long distance motorists  to adhere to all traffic rules and regulations and ensure their vehicles  were in tip top conditions. 

    He advised those  leaving their houses vacant for  a long time to inform their neighbours or the police. They should also disconnect any electrical appliances  to prevent untoward incidents from happening.

    Mohamad, who   arrived here on Tuesday afternoon,  joined  senior Muslim officers and other policemen in  performing the Maghrib prayer.

    The State Police Commissioner also joined the breaking of fast at  the Bintulu district police headquarters surau.
