| Kuala Lumpur- In a move
to establish good rapport with constituents and ensure the provision of
efficient services to the people, Sarawak Progressive Democratics Party
(SPDP) yesterday announced the formation of a Laison Committee comprising
all its 10 members of Parliament and State Assemblymen.
Speaking to the press after chairing the SPDP Supreme Council Extraordinary Meeting held at the Regent Hotel here yesterday afternoon, its president Datuk William Mawan Ak Ikom said the objectives were primarily to provide an effective and efficient communication of matters affecting members and the public from the Division and branches of the party to the Supreme Council and other relevant government agencies. "All the MPs and YBs are also tasked to rejuvenate the spirit of members in some Division and branches who are found to be complacent and to inject new life into inactive branches," he said. The Liaison Committee will also ensure that the people benefit from the Minor Rural Projects allocated by all the YBs and MPs of the respective State and Parliamentary constituency. It will also bring up social problems affecting members and the public to the relevent government agencies. Secretary General Datuk Slyvester anak Entrie pointed out the setting up of the Liaison Committee was in emulation of the Liaison Coimmittee formed by UMNO which had proven to be very sucessful and effective. "Some of the MPs and YBs, who are automatically the Liaison Chiefs, will be allocated several constituencies - depending on the accessibility and proximity of members and the public to the party's Divisions and branches," explained Sylvester adding this was to facilitate or sdmoothen the administrative procedures.
