| For Tsunami Fund...Mawan receiving the amount in a symbolic gesture from Tiong |
| BINTULU: A sum of RM120,112.40
was raised at the 'Charity Night For Tsunami Victims' organised by Sarawak
Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) at the Civic Centre here on Sunday.
Party president who is also Social Development and Urganisation Minister Datuk William Mawan Ikom raised RM41,492.20 by singing two songs, an English number Green Green Grass of Home and a Mandarin number 'A mesmeriszing Past'. Bintulu Member of Parliament cum party's treasurer general, Datuk Sri Tiong King Sing, rendered a Chinese song'I am A China Man' and raised RM61,788.10. The rest of the money was raised through the sales of corsage, beverage drinks and dinner tables. Among those present were Assistant Minister of Agriculture Daatuk Peter Nyarok Entrie, Assistant Minister of Water Supply Sylvester Entri Muran and Tasik Biru Assemblyman Peter Nansian and Ba'Kelalan assemblyman Nelson Balang and local dignitaries. Tiong later handed over the amount to Mawan who would pass it to Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. George Chan. Mawan thanked all the donors and supporters for their generosity towards the noble cause. |
