| BINTULU : Criminals or fugitives who try
to make Bintulu a base to run their illegal activities or involving in
crimes are asked to stay away.
"But if you coming here to look for a decent jobs to earn a living, then we welcome you," said member of Parliament for P216 Bintulu Dato Seri Tiong King Sing, stressing gangsterism must be barred from Bintulu. Tiong said he had the assurance from the Bintulu Police Chief Superintendent Haji Suliaman Abdul Razak that police would ensure all culprits would be brought to justice once being arrested if they were caught for committing crimes here. He said the recent success of Bintulu Police to crippling two syndicates involving in theft of cars and house breaking were indeed commendable. Most of these criminals came from other districts," said Tiong. Meanwhile Tiong advised the locals to render their cooperation with police especially to lodge a formal report at the police station if their houses were being broken into or being extorted. "I have received feedback from some members of the public that they are not 100 per cent confident in the police to solve the cases for them,” remarked Tiong. However, Tiong described this presumption as unhealthy since these people did not give the police a chance to prove themselves since they did not bother to lodge police report regarding their cases. But if anyone was unhappy with the manner the police handling the case in the course of investigation, they could always file their complaints to either the State Police headquarters, the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters or even the Ministry of Internal Security or Prime Minister's Office to voice their grievances. Tiong said this at the opening of the Trade Fair and Food Exhibition held in conjunction with the Borneo International Kites Festival held at the Old Bintulu Airport yesterday. Also present at the function were
Jepak State Assemblyman Datuk Haji Talip Zulpilip, Senator
Hii Tiong Kuoh, Organising chairman cum Political Secretarty to Chief Minister's
office, Robert Laing Anyie,Bintulu Resident Dr Razali Abon, General Manager
of BDA, Haji Mohidin Ishak and Dato Seri Yek Ming Ek.
