| BINTULU : Residents in Binutlu are asked
to show their patriotism and love of the country by a simple gesture -
to fly the flags during the month of August until the Independence
Day Celebration culminating on 31st August.
The advice came from Member of Parliament for P216 Bintulu, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing who noticed the apathetic and dispassionate attitude of many traders in the town and residents alike without hoisting the national flags on their respective premises. He urged the business community and the residents alike to commemorate this grand occasion of the country as Malaysia is celebrating its 48th Independence Day this coming 31st August. " With capable government and good leaders, all of us might not be around or here today to enjoy the prosperity and development around us," he said. Replying, Tiong said the people in Bintulu should not anticipate his Service Centre to distribute free flags to the public as in the past. "We are trying to arouse the spirit of patriotism among the people and that was why we gave out thousands of flags free to the members of the public," he explained. Tiong also explained he would be at Putrajaya to celebrate the Independence Day on 31st August. |
