83 Sexual Crimes Solved Last Year

BINTULU: Police had successfully solved 83 percent of sexual crimes reported for last year throughout the country.

Based on a Home Affairs Ministry's statistic obtained by Bintulu Member of Parliament, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing, police registered 3,286 cases in 2004 and had solved 2,548 of it. 

From the overall figure, 1765 cases reported were rape, 335 incest cases, 1,661 case of outraging of modesty and 177 sodomy cases.

The enforcement agency had managed to solve all the incest cases, 90 percent of the rape cases, 73 percent outraging of modesty cases and 67 percent sodomy cases.

Between January to April this year, a total of 1,303 sexual crime cases were reported and police had managed to solve 1,094 of it.
