| BINTULU: Residents of 8 units of
terrace houses at Taman Esen are seeking assistance from Bintulu
Member of Parliament Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing JP to resolve the problems
of continuous erosion of river bank.
According to the spokesman of the residents,
Mr. Ang Boon Hiang, flash flood in the area had been aggravating these
two years after the self-initiated riverbank protection works collapsed.
Earlier, he said residents had approached
the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID), Bintulu Development Authority
(BDA), Public Works Department (JKR) here to seek for the solution.
"Residents here are worried the scenario
will be getting worse especially during the year end LANDAS season!" he
added.
Ang further revealed that a concrete river
protection works had been constructed two years ago at a nearby resident
area at RPR Sibiew that was facing the similar problem.
They hoped through the assistance of the
people-caring MP, similar works would be carried out soon to order to protect
the properties of residents.
Among those present during the inspection
this morning were the political secretary to the MP, Mr. Zaiedy Nor bin
Abu Nasir, special assistant to the MP Mr. Teo Ho Ping, Ling Ah Ling, chief
