Bintulu: There is a worrying trend among Dayk students who preferred to work at pubs and other entertainment joints for the poacket money during the school holidays.

Bintulu MP Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing said such places may not be suitable for the students to earn extra income.

"The young minds can easily be influenced.  For one, they can pick up the drinking habit easily at those places and it will affect their studies if they don't know how to control such habits," he said during a Gawai visit to Rh. Michael Lanyau anak Ruma at Ulu Sebauh on Friday night.

Tiong said while students should be encouraged to spend their holidays productively, the parents on the other hand can always ask the children to work in supermarkets or fast food restaurants.

Mwanwhile, Tiong strongly advised the NCR landowners to study the agreeements for commercial development of the land carefully before signing them.

"Most disputes arise from their failure to understand the terms of the agreements.  Once signed, we cannot simply forget about the agreements and have our own terms and conditions."

Among those joining in for the Gawai visits were Kapit MP Alexander Nanta Linggi, former politician Datuk Sri Celestine Ujang and headman, Michael Lanyau.
