It was never his intention to falsify information about his birth record, but he explained that such date was eventually recorded by the NRD when he applied under late registration procedure on July 5, 2000 at the department's Tatau office.

Over the years, he had made several attempts to check whether the certificate had been issued but to no avail until Mar 3 the following year where he had been told that his application had been rejected and had been required to apply.

Some how, no reason was given for the rejection as the officer at the NRD had continued to overlook the birth year on the receipt.

Since then, this 35-year-old farmer with two children had been carrying the NRD receipt that proclaimed him closed to become a millennium man but hardly could change his profession as he had no identity card yet.
